Privacy
Your photo never leaves your device. This page says exactly what that means, and lists the little the site and its web host do keep.
The short version
- Your photos stay on your device. Every photo you open in the photo tool, the photo checker or the print sheet maker is processed by your own browser. It is never uploaded, stored or logged by us.
- No cookies, no tracking, no accounts. We do not know who you are, and we do not want to.
- What you type into the travel tools stays on your device too. Trip dates, nationalities and passport dates are worked out in the page and never sent.
- We count, anonymously. The site counts how often its tools are used (for example “a US passport photo was downloaded”), without anything that identifies you.
- Our web host keeps standard access logs, as almost every website does.
Your photos
When you choose or take a photo, the page reads the file in your browser’s memory. The face checker (the code and two small models described on how it works) is downloaded from this site to your device and runs there. Cropping, background changes, checks, the digital file and the print sheet are all made on your device, and the files you download are saved straight from the page to your device.
- No request the site makes contains your photo or anything derived from it, such as face measurements. Our automated tests watch every request during a full run of the tool and fail if one carries image data or goes to another website.
- Photos are never written to browser storage (local storage, IndexedDB or the cache).
- If you use “Take a photo” on a computer, your browser asks for permission to use the camera. The live picture is shown only in the page, and the page turns the camera off as soon as the photo is taken or the camera window is closed. On a phone, your own camera app takes the photo.
- “Start over” removes the photo from the page. Closing the tab removes it completely.
What your browser remembers
On pages without a preset document (such as the home page), the photo tool remembers the last document you chose, for example “us-passport”, in your browser’s local storage, so the picker opens on it next time. That is the only thing the site stores on your device. It never leaves your device, and clearing your browser’s site data removes it.
Your browser also keeps the site’s files (pages, fonts, the face checker) in its normal cache so later visits load faster. That is standard browser behavior and contains no personal data.
The anonymous usage counter
To decide which documents to improve, the site counts how often each tool is used. When you process a photo, download a file or use a travel tool, the page sends a small message to this site containing only two things: the event (for example “photo processed”, “digital photo downloaded”, “print sheet downloaded”, “Schengen calculation”) and the document or tool (for example “us-passport” or “schengen-calculator”). The server adds 1 to a monthly total for that event and document.
The counter does not use cookies, does not record your IP address or browser, and does not store the individual messages, only the monthly totals. It never contains your photo, your measurements or anything you typed.
What our web host logs
The site is hosted by Hostinger. Like almost every web host, its servers write a standard access log entry for each file they send: the time, your IP address, the address of the page or file requested, the size of the response, the response time, the device and browser your browser reports, and a country estimated from the IP address. Because photos are never sent to the server, these logs never contain them.
We use these logs only to keep the site running and to stop abuse, never to identify or profile visitors. They are kept by the host for a limited time, under the host’s own privacy policy.
Advertising
The site shows no ads today. If we add ads later to pay for the site, this page will be updated before they appear, saying which company serves them and what it collects. Ads will never be placed inside the photo tool and will never receive your photo.
If you write to us at the address on the contact page, we receive your email address and your message. We use them only to answer you, and delete the conversation when it is no longer needed. Please never send us photos, passport numbers or other documents: we do not need them to help you.
Children
The site is a tool for parents and adults. Photos of babies and children made in baby mode are handled exactly like any other photo: on your device only. We do not knowingly receive personal data from children.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data from anyone who uses the tools, there is nothing for us to show, correct or delete. If you have emailed us, you can ask us to delete your messages at any time. If you have a question about this policy, use the contact page.
Changes to this page
If the way the site handles data changes, we update this page first and change the date below.
Frequently asked questions
Is my passport photo uploaded to a server?
No. The photo tool, the photo checker and the print sheet maker run in your browser. The photo is read, measured, cropped and saved as a file on your device, and no request the page makes contains it. Our automated tests check every request the site makes during a full run of the tool.
Do you keep a copy of my photo?
No. The photo exists only in the open page. "Start over" clears it, and closing the tab removes it. It is never written to your browser's storage, so it is not there on your next visit either.
Does the site use cookies or trackers?
No. There are no cookies, no analytics service, no advertising tags and no social media buttons. Fonts, code and the face checker are all served from passportvisapic.com itself, so your browser does not contact any other company while you use the site.
What about photos of my baby or child?
They are handled exactly like any other photo, on your device only. The age you choose in baby mode is used to apply the right rules and is not stored or sent anywhere.
